Pakistan’s star batter and former captain Babar Azam has dropped to third place in the latest ICC ODI rankings, slipping behind India’s Rohit Sharma after a disappointing series against West Indies.
Babar, who held the No. 2 spot with consistent performances over the past year, now sits on 751 rating points, while Rohit has overtaken him with 756 points despite not playing an ODI since the Champions Trophy 2025 final on March 9.
The ranking drop follows a poor run of form for Babar in the recently concluded Pakistan vs West Indies ODI series, where Pakistan lost 2–1. The final ODI defeat was particularly historic, as it marked West Indies’ first series victory over Pakistan in 34 years.

Babar scored just 56 runs in three matches at a below-par average of 18.66. In the first game, he looked promising with a well-constructed 47 off 64 balls before falling to Gudakesh Motie. However, his form nosedived, registering a three-ball duck in the second ODI and only 9 off 23 balls in the decider.
Pakistan’s batting woes were not limited to Babar. Mohammad Rizwan, the current ODI captain, slipped from 21st to 22nd in the rankings with 602 points. While young opener Saim Ayub fell nine spots to 46th.
The third ODI at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium was a low point for the Men in Green. They were bowled out for just 92 in pursuit of a mammoth target. Suffering a crushing 202-run defeat.
With the Asia Cup 2025 approaching. Pakistan will be eager for their star players to regain form and rebuild confidence on the international stage.
