CPL 2025: New Zealand opener Colin Munro announced his return to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in style, hammering the first century of the 2025 edition. Playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders after a two-season break, Munro unleashed a scintillating 120-run knock off just 57 balls, guiding his team to a record-breaking start against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Munro’s Dominant Return to CPL
Opening the innings alongside England’s Alex Hales, Munro showcased his trademark aggressive batting. The left-hander brought up his second CPL century. And the sixth of his T20 career by launching a massive six off Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah in the 17th over. His innings featured 14 fours and six towering sixes, setting the foundation for a monumental team score.
Hales and Colin Munro stitched together a 114-run partnership, dismantling the Patriots’ bowling attack from the outset. While Munro anchored the innings with power and precision. Hales added a quickfire 47 off 27 balls to keep the scoreboard racing.

Trinbago Knight Riders Cross 200-Run Mark
The Knight Riders posted 231-5 in their allotted 20 overs, making it the first 200-plus total of CPL 2025. Middle-order batter Keacy Carty contributed with a brisk 16* from just eight balls, adding finishing touches to the massive total.
On the bowling front, the Patriots struggled to contain the flow of runs. Every bowler went for over 10 runs per over, with Naseem Shah conceding 40 runs in three overs. Senior all-rounder Jason Holder and Afghan spinner Waqar Salamkheil picked up two wickets each. But at the cost of heavy leakage, conceding a combined 87 runs.
Munro’s blazing century not only gave the Trinbago Knight Riders. A winning start to their campaign but also set the tone for what promises to be an electrifying CPL 2025 season.
